Madison Art Society announces Town Hall Artists for November and December

The Madison Art Society announces that popular Madison artists, Joan McPherson and Marilee B. Noonan will be the Madison Town Hall artists in November and December. Both are skilled artists who have captured the effects of light on objects both indoors and out of doors. Their work can be viewed at the Madison Town Hall, 8 Campus Drive, Madison, CT during the months of November and December.

Joan has pursued art for many years. She has taught painting at the Connecticut River Art Workshop in Essex, CT, at the Guilford Art Center, and for the town of Madison. Joan has served as treasurer and president of the Madison Art Society. She is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Connecticut Watercolor Society, the San Diego Watercolor Society, the New England Watercolor Society, and many local arts organizations. Her most recent one-woman exhibit took place at The Trailing Yew on Monhegan Island, Maine, this summer.

When asked, “Are you an artist?”, Marilee generally responds, “I don’t know about that but I sure do love to paint.” A science educator most of her life, she is now an oil painter whose works are primarily still life’s and landscapes. When designing her works, she thinks Aristotle said it best, “The whole is greater than the sum of its parts.”
Influenced by teachers Bernard McTigue, John Massimino, Eileen Elder, and a wonderfully giving community of shoreline artists, her works explore effects of light to create vibrant and organic pieces.
Marilee serves on the Board of Directors of the Madison Art Society. She is also a member of the Lyme Art Association, the Clinton Art Society and the Guilford Art League.
