FINAL NOTICE TO MEMBERS
In order to qualify for the lower entry rates, MAS member 2008 dues must have been paid by April 30, 2008. If you’re in doubt as to your status, call Maude Schmidt Membership Chair at 203-245-0807.

Tuesday, May 6th to Friday, May 9th - Pick Up of non-selected works during regular library hours.
Friday, May 9th - 5 to 7 p.m. - Opening Reception and Awards Ceremony.
Sunday, May 18th, 1:30 p.m. Pastel Lecture-Demo by our judge, Rob DeBartolo
Friday, May 30th, 5 to 7 p.m. - Pick Up of exhibited work

JUROR
Rob DeBartolo has lived and worked in Connecticut for over forty years. He is an accomplished artist. His media include pastels, acrylics, collage and pourable inks creating beautiful landscapes and flower paintings. His works show a deep commitment to color and its limitless possibilities. He owns and operates a gallery on the shoreline in Essex where he shows art by local artists as well as his own work. Rob's works have been shown throughout New England. He has had several solo shows and his works hang in many private collections. Rob studied at Lyme Academy with Jerry Carron, Creative Arts Workshop with Barbara Harder, and at the Guilford Art Center.

Exhibition DATES Monday, May 5th - Friday, May 30th, 2008


OPENING RECEPTION For exhibitors, MAS members and guests. Friday, May 9th, 5:00 - 7:00 p.m.


ELIGIBILITY Open to all Connecticut artists. Work must be original, not created under tutelage and not previously shown at the Scranton Memorial Library. Work must have been completed within the last two years and must be for sale. No NFS work will be accepted.
Media Oils, watercolors, acrylics, pastels, drawings, sculpture, collage, mixed media, and hand-made prints are acceptable. Prints made using xerographic, digital or other photographic processes do not qualify. Reproductions, crafts and photographs will not be accepted.


ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Each artist may enter two pieces only and because of limited space, only one work from an artist will be accepted for hanging. Work must be signed, priced and suitably framed with screw eyes and wire (no saw tooth hangers). Gallery wrap canvases must be painted on the sides. Maximum size INCLUDING THE FRAME IS 42" in any direction. Sculpture must be accompanied by a free-standing pedestal. Please note: WORKS DEEMED INAPPROPRIATE FOR ANY REASON BY MAS WILL NOT BE ACCEPTED. Submission of work and payment of entry fee does not in any way constitute a guarantee of acceptance. The Juror's decision is final.


RECEIVING Entries will be received downstairs at the Scranton Memorial Library on Saturday, May 3, 2008 from 9 a.m. to noon (side door) Please bring a stamped, self-addressed envelope.


SUBMISSIONS Current Members whose 2008 dues are paid, 1st entry, $10., 2nd entry, $5.Non-Members, 1st entry, $12., 2nd entry, $8. Each work must have a three part entry blank properly filled out and taped to the bottom back left hand side with the information facing out. Tape the top edge of the entry form so that the information is visible below the frame. A self-addressed, stamped envelope must accompany all entries. Notification of juror's decisions will be mailed promptly. Juror's decision is final. Ten per cent of the proceeds from a sale of any work will be paid to MAS who will in turn deliver it to the Scranton Library as a donation. You will receive a thank you note from the library to use for your tax records.


SELECTED WORKS Selected works MUST remain on exhibit during the entire show and MUST be picked up on Friday, May 30th, from 5 to 7 p.m. or Saturday, May 31st from 9 a.m. to noon.


NON-SELECTED WORKS Works not selected must be picked up between May 6th and May 9 during regular library hours.


LIABILITY All works will receive careful handling, but neither the Madison Art Society nor the Scranton Memorial Library will be responsible for any lost or damaged art works.
