"Road Less Taken" by Judith Gay, watercolor
Judith Gay is a local artist, residing in Clinton. As her mother was an accomplished painter, Judith was exposed to this craft at an early age. During her early adulthood, she painted mostly portraits using pastels. Judith chose a career in school psychology which left her little time to practice her art. After retiring six years ago, she renewed her interest in painting, but this time with watercolors. “I love the translucency, spontaneity and portability of watercolor, which make it perfect for plein air painting. I also love those “happy accidents” that occur when one color bleeds into another. Watercolor always maintains some mystery to me because you don’t always know how one color will react with another or for that matter, the paper.” Judith belongs to the Madison Art Society and the Connecticut Shoreline Artists plein air group. Her work has been accepted in the Madison Art Society’s juried shows at which she won an award. She has painted with David Dewey, Alvaro Castagnet, Tony Couch, Ted Nuttal and John Salminen.

"Buddy" by Rosemary Serfilippi, oil

Rosemary Serfilippi, a Northford artist, has had a lifetime interest in art. After retiring from teaching and interior decorating, Rosemary has had the time to pursue her interest.  Painting in oils, she draws on her experience teaching literature and working as a Master gardener and interior decorator for her subject matter.  Her cats also frequently provide inspiration.  "Cats seem to constantly 'pose' assuming that I'll want to paint them again and again- and they are right."  Winner of numerous prizes in local exhibits, Rosemary is a member of the North Haven Art Guild, the North Branford Art Club, the Guildford Art League and the Madison Art Society.  She currently serves as Historian and Membership chair of the Hamden Art League.  She has studied with Mark Massaro, John Massimino, Lou Bonamarte and Terry Oaks-Bourret.
