Madison Town Hall - Madison Art Society Artists for the Months of November and December are Karen Wiesner and Wayne Stevens
The Madison Art Society presents the artwork of Madison artist, Karen Wiesner and North Branford artist, Wayne Stevens. Their art work will be on display throughout the months of November and December at the Madison Town Hall at 8 Campus Road in Madison, Connecticut. Their collections of paintings are open to the public free of charge and can be viewed during normal business hours.
Karen Wiesner
Karen Wiesner enjoys painting in both oil and pastel, and especially "en plein aire" whenever possible. She is a member of the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, Guilford Art League, Clinton Art Society, Madison Art Society, Connecticut Pastel Society, and Lyme Art Association. Karen has continued to pursue her art studies with a number of major artists including Lou Bonamarte, Jurgen Geith, Joann Ballinger, Gerald Caron, Don Stone, Charles Movalli, Jerry Weiss, and Charles Sovek. She has also painted on location with Sam D'Amburoso in Tuscany and with Charles Gruppe in Italy, Portugal, Greece and Spain. She has won numerous awards in the many juried shows along the shoreline, and has exhibited her work in the Town and Country Club of Hartford, The Guilford Art Center's annual Artistry exhibits, The Sylvan Gallery, Riverside Press Gallery in Essex, and the Robert Van Loan gallery in Greenwich. In 2010, Yale's Smilow Cancer Center purchased her work for their permanent collection. Karen can be reached at 203-245-1487.
Wayne Stevens is a multi-talented musician and artist who has been self taught in both fields. He was inspired to pursue art as a child by watching his mother draw, to play the guitar by his brother, AJ, and he learned carpenter skills from his father. Although his profession is a carpenter, he started sculpting in wood recently and painting with acrylics and airbrush in 1993. Wayne is a singer and lead guitarist in The Taxmen, and the Wayne and Chris Duo. His bands play frequently at many shoreline venues, restaurants, bars, cafes, fairs and weddings.
