Art Critique by Artist John Massimino


The Madison Art Society during its 43rd Annual Member Show will host artist John Massimino  Sunday, February 18, 2018 at the E.C. Scranton Memorial Library, 801 Boston Post Road, Madison, CT from 1:30-3:30 PM. John is in demand throughout the art community in South Central Connecticut for his expert critiques. This occasion is an opportunity to see artist’s work from many Shoreline towns critiqued by a professional. Pictured below is artwork from Madison, Old Lyme, Deep River and New Haven that can be seen at the show.

John Massimino is a New Haven native and received his B.F.A. from the Hartford Art School. He has held a number of exhibitions and shows here in the United States and Italy. The New Britain Museum of Art, the AHDA Art Gallery in N.Y.C., the Hotel San Michele in Capri, Italy and the Galleria D’Arte Personale, Italy are a few of the places that have hosted his one man shows.

John’s works are in a number of permanent collections including the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, the Davenport Municipal Art Gallery, the Springfield Art Museum, the New Britain Museum of Art, Fairfield University, the Kennedy Space Center Museum, Florida as well as in private collections here and abroad.

John Massimino has received 40 painting awards among them include the American Watercolor Society, the Connecticut Watercolor Society, the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, Berkshire Art Association , the New Haven Paint and Clay Club, the Brush and Palette Club and the Audubon Show in New York.

John taught at Paier College of Art in Connecticut for over twenty years and is currently a visiting professor. He is a member in Who’s Who in the East, U.S.A. the Dictionary of International Biography, Men of Achievement and is a part of the NASA Team of Artists at the Kennedy Space Center in Florida.

This critique is a rare opportunity to watch a professional review local artwork. There is so much to learn as all artists encounter the similar challenges in composition, value study and use of color. Please join us free of charge. The seating is first come first served.
