Madison Art Society announces Town Hall Artists for May and June

The Madison Art Society announces popular local artists, Hilary Griffin of Madison and Daniel Dahlstrom of Chester, will be the Madison Town Hall artists in May and June.  Both painters of local scenes, Griffin and Dahlstrom capture the beauty and charm of shoreline towns and seasides.  Their work can be viewed at the Madison Town Hall, 8 Campus Drive, Madison, CT during the months of May and June.  The exhibit is viewable during regular business hours.

Hilary Griffin
Hilary has painted watercolors for more than twenty-five years, painting commissions for private collections and donating paintings to auctions for charity. In 2008, the Madison Chamber of Commerce recognized Hilary’s artwork and chose her to paint postcard scenes depicting the town of Madison in watercolors. She was also selected as one of the local artists for the Madison Lion’s Club’s biggest fundraiser through the sale of art .  In 2016 the Madison Art Society awarded Hilary the Popular Choice Award for her Stairs and Stripes watercolor.  She is on the board of directors of the Madison Art Society.

Hilary is a native of Greenwich, Connecticut.  She traveled throughout her life where she developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the world around her.  Her extensive travels in her youth through America’s breathtaking national parks, and her travels with her family around the world have inspired her to recreate the beauty she witnesses, through watercolors,  painting a diverse array of subjects. In 2004 she moved to Madison, CT, with her husband, and three children.  She is available for commission work.

Daniel Dahlstrom
Daniel (Dan) Dahlstrom is a Connecticut native, was raised in Essex, Connecticut and worked in the family decorating business for many years, and currently resides in Chester, Connecticut. His work has been accepted into many local juried shows, including the Lyman Allyn Art Museum in New London, Connecticut, held in conjunction with the Lyme Art Association.

Dan has studied at the prestigious Lyme Academy College of Fine Art and with several professional, local artists. Presently, he is working on several pieces for his upcoming exhibits and commissioned pieces. You can also find commissioned pieces on display at the Water’s Edge Resort, Westbrook, Connecticut, The Riverhouse at Goodspeed Station, Haddam, Connecticut, and in private collections.

Inspiration comes from the light effects of nature, and his renderings offer a serene, peaceful quality. He often paints scenes of his beloved Chester, the Connecticut River, Long Island Sound, and the surrounding vistas of the beautiful countryside of New England. He enjoys working “en plein air” (in the open air) and in his studio.
