MAS News SEPTEMBER 2009

Make sure you have made your RSVP for our Annual Meeting and Potluck Social scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2009 at 5:30 pm. There is no charge (bring either an appetizer or a dessert). It is always fun for everyone to get together and socialize. For our new members, the meeting portion of this meeting is usually only five minutes and the rest is a social event. This year, we will be going to the Madison Beach Club on Island Road (note it is not the Madison Surf Club).

In efforts to increase our art exhibition opportunities, we have the October 17, 2009 Plein air Painting Exhibition at the Bauer Farm Family Fall Harvest Fair (MAS plein air artists will exhibit a Bauer Farm painting they did this summer and they will paint at the farm area too). It was fun last year and the weather was perfect.

Sara Nebel, a MAS Artist Member, is coordinating a new exhibition opportunity for us - MAS Holiday Small Works by our Elected Artist Members at the Peoples Bank during the months of November and December.

In order to continue to offer our expanded programs, we need volunteers. We have over 200 members. However like in many clubs, the work falls on the same few individuals to make things happen for the group at large. Please offer to assist us in helping you grow as an artist and exhibit your work.

We need chairs/co-chairs for the Member Show in February and for the Juried Show in May. Also, along with being President, I have been handling the news/publicity. We need someone to coordinate the publicity. Please contact me at Bschirmeier@yahoo.com to volunteer to help out.

Beverly Schirmeier
President of the MAS
