Best in Show: Light of the Silvery Moon by Del-Bouree Bach, acrylic |
Second Place: Hammonasset Roll by Judy Perry, pastel |
Third Place: Stephen's Journey by Judy Gay, pastel |
Juror, James Magner wrote the following comments about the top award winning work. "Light of the Silvery Moon" commands attention with its strong composition. The dramatic shape of the dune is balanced and highlighted by the moon and its soft light. One of the loftiest goals of a painting is to convey an emotional response in the viewer. Upon looking at this painting, I am left with a feeling of stability and tranquility."
The Madison Art Society is very grateful for the strong support of the Madison business community. Their generous donations combined with the society's resources allowed the Madison Art Society to offer over $3000 in awards. The show can be viewed in the Community Room at the library until May 27. The opening reception will be held on May 12, 5-7 p.m. In conjunction with the show, an acrylic painting demonstration by artist Bill Colrus will be offered on Sunday , May 15 at 1:30 and on May 26, 6:30- 8:30 The Guilford Poets Guild will share poems inspired by the artwork.
