The Madison Art Society will host a painting demonstration by contemporary oil painter Marija Pavlovich McCarthy on June 11, 2015 at 6:30 PM. The demo will be held on the second floor of Madison Memorial Hall located on the Town Green in Madison CT. The public is welcome to attend.
Marija Pavlovich McCarthy
A painter and educator, Marija was trained in Belgrade, Serbia and at George Washington University and the Corcoran School of Art in Washington DC. She has lived and exhibited in the US, Europe, Asia and North Africa and her works are in the permanent collections of the Belgrade Museum of Art, the New Britain Museum of American Art, two Presidential collections, US Congressional collections and hundreds of corporate and private collections.
She currently shows at the Copley Society of Art in Boston as well as with the following organizations of which she is a signature member: the New England Watercolor Society, the Connecticut Watercolor Society and the New Haven Paint & Clay Club. She has taught art for decades, most recently at the Washington Art Association in Washington, CT.
In the Fall of 2010 she had an exhibit titled: “A Look at the Past” a selection of paintings from 1985 to the present at the Minor Memorial Library Gallery in Roxbury CT. In December 2010, she opened a show in the Contemporary Arts Center in New York City of oil paintings titled “The Shape of Water”. These paintings depict the artist’s involvement and love for the various bodies, states and dynamics of water through the seasons. In May 2013, she curated a show of her students “Fifty Years of Teaching” at the Minor Memorial Library.
Currently, Marija concentrates on studio painting, exhibiting, tutoring advanced painters individually and lecturing on art and her work.
