Happy Autumn MAS Artists
MAS still has a few more events planned for this year before 2011.
Bauer Farm Family Festival- I hope you come out this Saturday, October 16 from 11 - 3 for the Bauer Farm Family Festival off of Hunter Trail in Madison. Our plein air painters will be displaying their painting of Bauer Park and painting on site. There will be lots of fun things for the family to do too. No rain date.
Elected Artists Holiday Small Artworks at the Peoples Bank . Peoples Bank has invited us to exhibit our Elected Artists Small Artworks Holiday Show ( 6X8 inch painting or smaller in any size frame) again this November and December. Over half of our membership are elected artists. To become an Elected Artist, you must be an active member prior to the show and be accepted into two juried shows within a five year period of time. All work must be wired to hang. Notify Sara Drought Nebel if you plan to show your work so she can plan the exhibit space. You can email her @ saranebel@yahoo.com or call her at : 203-245-6081 and then bring the work to Peoples Bank-Madison, on Monday, November 1st, between 9-9:30 am. She will have tags to fill out and tape onto the back of the piece for catalog/price list/identification purposes. For questions, call or email her! The show will run from Nov. 1st til thru New Year's Day. Pick up day to be announced.
Dues- The Board has started planning MAS events for next year. Most importantly, while everything else is going up in prices, we decided not to change our dues - they will remain steady at $25. Our financial year is January through December. The donations for demonstrations has allowed us to expand the number of demonstrations we provide to our members and to keep our dues the same for the year. Remember that you must be an active member to show your work in our Member Show - February and to sign up for the Winter Studio. Our address is MAS, Post Office Box 1383, Madison, CT 06443.
MAS Member Show is in February and we are so pleased that Diane Stone and Maryanne Rupp will co-chair the event. We have filled almost all of the spots except for sitting the show and refreshments. Frank Federiccio will do our critique session. We still need a coordinator or co-coordinators for the the Juried Show in May. There are always enough members willing to help on the sub committees, but we need a chairperson to coordinate the events. Let me know if you are willing to chair the show and the outdoor shows.
Plein air painting- Yes- we are still painting outdoors on Wednesdays.
Winter Studio - The Winter Studio will be held at St. Andrews Church in Madison for ten weeks on Mondays starting January 4 from 9 - 3 p.m. (includes weekly critiques by the artists). Two still life setups will be available each week for the artists to paint or you could work on your own artwork. We have a class limit of twenty members. Please send your check for $80 to Beverly Schirmeier, 76 Malabar Drive, Westbrook, Ct 06498. First come first served - so send me the checks ASAP. I will return any check if we get over twenty artists.
